Thermogravimetric analysis coupled MS

Description of the instrument

Thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), coupled with mass spectrometry (MS), makes it possible to simultaneously study the nature of the products resulting from the decomposition reactions formed in the TGA system.

The TGA part (Q500), allows the measurement of masses between 0-200 mg (sensitivity 0.1ug, accuracy 0.01%) and to control the temperature up to 1000 ° C. The analyzes can be carried out under N2 or Air in cupolas made of platinum (Pt), aluminum (Al) or alumina (Al2O3). The device is equipped with an autosampler that allows the analysis of 16 samples in a row. The oven is EGA (quartz) type and allows coupling to the mass spectrometer.

The MS part (Discovery) is a quadrupole mass spectrometer connected to the TGA oven via a heated capillary interface. The equipment allows mass measurements between 1 and 300 amu with a sensitivity of the order of ppb.
