Excellence Award 2025 – Spotlight on Gwenaël Chamoulaud, Pillar of NanoQAM
The Faculty of Science awarded its 2025 Excellence Awards during a ceremony held on May 14 at the Heart of Sciences. Among the laureates, we are especially proud to highlight the recognition given to Gwenaël Chamoulaud, research officer in the Department of Chemistry, for his key role in the establishment and management of the Research Center on Nanomaterials and Energy (NanoQAM).
Holder of a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Poitiers, Gwenaël Chamoulaud has been working at UQAM since 2001. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship, he quickly became involved in major projects, including the creation of the doctoral program in chemistry in 2006. In January 2007, he became the very first employee of NanoQAM.
For over 15 years, Gwenaël has been the indispensable technical reference for the platform. His mastery of numerous sophisticated instruments and his deep understanding of the chemical processes studied make him a recognized expert. In addition to his technical skills, Gwenaël Chamoulaud is also a dedicated educator, actively contributing to the hands-on training of students and researchers collaborating with NanoQAM. His valuable support has enabled several generations of researchers to acquire advanced analytical skills essential to their projects.
This distinction attests to the exceptional commitment and leadership of Gwenaël Chamoulaud, which directly contribute to the prominence and scientific excellence of NanoQAM.
