Pr. Ricardo Izquierdo on Le code Chastenay

Le code Chastenay

Professor Ricardo Izquierdo, of NanoQAM and the Department of Computer Science at UQAM, participated in the scientific magazine Le code Chastenay, broadcast on September 29 at 8 p.m., at Télé-Québec. He was interviewed for a report entitled “The laboratory on a chip: soon a reality!”.

Laboratory on chip

An analysis laboratory no bigger than a coin … the lab on a chip will soon become a reality! Imagine: a miniature laboratory, without technicians or devices of all kinds and yet capable of providing analysis results in record time. This lab as small as a postage stamp or a coin would greatly speed up the diagnosis of infections. It is the dream of several researchers here, who are in the world race to miniaturize the scientific laboratory. This is called the lab on a chip. Thanks to these miniature labs, we can also possibly analyze contaminated air, water or soil samples on site and identify the contaminants in a few seconds!
