Pr. René Roy on Le code Chastenay
Le code Chastenay
NanoQAM professor René Roy, holder of the Canada Research Chair in therapeutic chemistry, participated in the scientific magazine Le code Chastenay, broadcast on September 22, 2008, 8 p.m., at Télé-Québec. He was interviewed for a report on glycodendrimers.
Glycodendrimers
These nanotechnological structures could be used as a new antimicrobial strategy by preventing bacteria from adhering to human tissue, thus complementing the action of antibiotics.
Last January, the scientific magazine Québec Science disclosed the list of ten scientific discoveries of the year in Quebec. The discovery of René Roy, on the manufacture of these molecules called glycodendrimers, was found in this prestigious honor roll. This discovery could apply in particular in cases of E. coli infections, which cause urinary tract infections, and would prove useful in the work on cystic fibrosis that the researcher is pursuing.
