NanoQAM Celebrates Two of Its Own at the 2026 Faculty of Science Excellence Awards
The NanoQAM research centre is proud to highlight the recognition of two of its members at the 2026 Faculty of Science Excellence Awards ceremony, held on May 6th at the Cœur des sciences agora.
Research Award – Emerging Researcher | Prof. François Perreault
NanoQAM is delighted to congratulate Prof. François Perreault, professor in the Department of Chemistry and an active member of our research centre, on receiving the Excellence in Research Award – Emerging Researcher category.
A specialist in water treatment and the responsible development of nanotechnology-based products, Prof. Perreault perfectly embodies NanoQAM’s mission: advancing nanoscience research for the benefit of society. Since joining UQAM in 2023, his laboratory has experienced remarkable growth. He has already authored 26 scientific articles, 19 of which were co-written with students under his supervision — a concrete commitment to training the next generation of nanotechnology researchers.
Regularly invited to present his work at major scientific events, Prof. Perreault actively contributes to raising NanoQAM’s profile on the national and international stage. His ability to rapidly build an ambitious and inspiring research program reflects exceptional scientific leadership, and points to a most promising future for our centre and the broader scientific community.
Support Staff Award | Alexandre Arnold
NanoQAM also wishes to celebrate Alexandre Arnold, research professional within our centre and recipient of the Recognition Award for Support Staff.
A cornerstone of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) analysis platform; a key technological infrastructure at the heart of NanoQAM’s activities; Alexandre Arnold ensures the day-to-day operation of the platform, from instrument calibration to maintenance. His role goes far beyond the technical: he guides students with patience and care through the theoretical and practical principles of NMR, demystifying a technique that can often seem daunting.
A accomplished researcher in his own right, Alexandre Arnold is the author or co-author of more than 60 scientific publications, some of which have appeared in leading journals such as The Journal of the American Chemical Society and Nature Communications. His contributions advance our understanding of the formation of complex biological structures, from cell membranes to protein adhesion systems; topics that align fully with NanoQAM’s research focus.
These two distinctions reflect the vitality and scientific excellence that drive NanoQAM every day. They speak to the importance of the work accomplished — both on the cutting edge of research and in the essential support that makes it possible.
